Prior to merging with Brothers, Alvarado, Piazza & Cozort, P.C. and becoming an equity shareholder in April 2022, Mr. Schlak was a partner with the firm of Manning, Gosda & Arredondo, L.L.P. for over twenty-two years. Mr. Schlak has successfully defended contractors, trucking and transportation companies, retailers, commercial vendors, premises owners, security companies and product manufacturers in federal and state courts and other forums throughout the State of Texas. Mr. Schlak also has years of experience in the field of toxic tort litigation.

Mr. Schlak grew up in Dallas, Texas and graduated with honors from St. Mark’s School of Texas in 1985. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the College of Liberal Arts at Vanderbilt University, graduating cum laude in 1989. Mr. Schlak received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992 and moved to Houston in 1993 to join the firm of Bean & Manning, L.L.P. Mr. Schlak is admitted to practice before all Texas state and federal courts, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
